At the opening of the Web Summit, Portuguese Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro announced that the Portuguese Artificial Intelligence (AI) model, now known as ‘Amália’ will be released in 2026. However, a beta version will be released in 2025.
In a statement, the Prime Minister declared:
“I’m speaking Portuguese so I can tell you here and now, firsthand, that in the first quarter of 2025, we are going to launch an LLM Portuguese – Large Language Model – as a way of preserving our language using our culture as the source of innovation.”
