In a statement, the company that manages the airports in Portugal said that the air connection between Madeira and New York will be provided by United Airlines.
“With the inauguration on the 8th of June of the new New York (Newark) – Madeira route, United Airlines becomes the only American company to operate at five ANA airports, now with the new routes to Faro and Madeira, which start in the summer of 2025.”
Furthermore, ANA has stated that:
“In addition to the direct connection to New York, Madeira will also operate direct flights to Nantes (France), London (United Kingdom), Edinburgh (Scotland), Shannon (Republic of Ireland), Milan (Italy), Brussels (Belgium), Nuremberg (Germany) and Bournemouth (United Kingdom).”
In the note, ANA also underlines the fact that, in 2024, Funchal and Porto Santo airports registered more than five million passengers and registered an 8% growth in the current winter season.
An investment of more than 50 million euros is also being made at Porto Santo Airport, with the construction of a new terminal that will double the operational capacity.
