Almost 1,500 kg of material was sent.
The Madeira PSP Regional Command today loaded three containers with weapons on board a Portuguese Navy patrol vessel. These weapons were seized during the course of several processes, reflecting the operational activity of the PSP within the scope of its exclusive powers of controlling and supervising weapons.
In total, around 240 short firearms, 200 long firearms and a large number of prohibited bladed weapons will be sent for destruction on the mainland, totaling approximately 1,500 kg of material.

In the last five years, a total of 137,897 weapons were destroyed in Portugal, and this year alone, 8,317 weapons have already been eliminated. Regarding the destruction of cartridges and ammunition, 42,595 kg were destroyed in the same period.
