The public transport strike scheduled for tomorrow will affect Horários do Funchal, CAM, and Siga Rodoeste buses. However, the final decision will be made by the workers in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Manuel Oliveira, union leader of the National Union of Drivers and Other Workers (SNMOT), confirmed that the stoppage is scheduled and that, until further notice, it will take place as planned.

“The strike is scheduled, and the workers will be consulted at dawn about this afternoon’s conclusions and decide whether the strike takes place or not. We are going to make a presentation to the workers, and it is up to the workers to decide on whether to take industrial action or not.”

The proposed strike action is scheduled from 00:00 to 23:59 on the 13th of March.

This Wednesday, there was a meeting between the union, the administration of Horários do Funchal,  and the Regional Secretary for Infrastructure Equipment, Pedro Fino. However, Manuel Oliveira did not provide details about the conclusions of the meeting, stating that the workers would be informed firsthand. “First, we have to transmit what was said to the workers; after that, we can talk to the media.”

The union leader also indicated that the consultation with workers should take place around 6 am.
