The National Communications Authority (ANACOM) has confirmed that they have fined several companies for non-compliance.
According to their annual statement, in 2024, ANACOM concluded 266 administrative offence proceedings, and in 234 cases, sanctions were applied, which relate to a total fine of 6.5 million euros.
The authority points out that a fine was imposed against MEO, for non-compliance with rules relating to subscriber contracts, for 1.4 million euros; against NOS, for non-compliance with rules relating to contracts with subscribers, in which a single fine of 858 thousand euros was imposed, and for non-compliance with rules relating to the suspension of electronic communications services, in which a single fine of 744 thousand euros was imposed; against CTT, by breaches of obligations relating to the universal postal service and obligations relating to the distribution of postal items, in which they have been fined 830 thousand euros and 399 thousand euros; and also against Vodafone, for non-compliance with rules relating to services, in which a single fine of 250 thousand euros and an injunction were imposed.
