A notice posted on the door of the PSD-Madeira headquarters, on Rua dos Netos, has been removed.
On a sheet of white paper were the words “Closed for refurbishment” and an orange flame.
The message, however, is being seen as provocative given the current internal strife within the PSD.
According to JM, the warning was removed early in the morning, and the party leadership has already informed some militants that it will view security footage to determine who wrote the “note” that apparently has destabilised the party.
Historically the PSD regional headquarters are closed from the 17th of December until the beginning of January. A practice that dates back to Alberto Jardim’s presidency. A source added that formally the headquarters closed down after the Christmas party.
This year, however, this news gained greater media interest and even reached national media outlets and has been seen by supporters of Manuel António Correia as an obstacle to militant opponents of the current leadership who want to resolve the current political situation.
