Funchal City Hall, in partnership with Animal Protection Associations based in the municipality of Funchal, held, this Thursday, at Mercado dos Lavradores, a solidarity fair dedicated to the Animal Cause.
The fair aimed to raise funds to help animals that are under the responsibility of the associations.
The councilor responsible for the Environment and Animal Causes, Nádia Coelho, was visiting the site, noting the municipal executive’s strong commitment to publicizing and supporting these associations, recognizing all the effort, work and dedication they carry out on the ground daily.
The mayor recalls that, within the scope of pursuing the policy of controlling the population of stray animals or companion animals belonging to families with economic needs, the executive has signed protocols with several animal protection associations based in the Municipality of Funchal, increasing financial support in 200% this year (2024) compared to the previous year (2023), for a global value of €60,000, protocols that will be renewed this year with effects on the work that will take place in 2025.
The fair was attended by the Associations AMAIS, Vamos Lá Madeira, Patinhas Felizes, Ajuda a Alimentar Cães and the Sociedade Protetora dos Animais Domésticos (SPAD).
