Motion of Censure Called

Miguel Castro (CHEGA -CH) held a press conference this afternoon where he announced a ‘motion of censure against the Regional Government of Miguel Albuquerque.’

The motion of censure, as soon as it is delivered to the president of the Assembly, will have to be discussed and voted on, within a maximum period of eight days.

If the CH motion has the support of the opposition, namely the PS and the JPP, the regional government will fall and a new election will have to be called by the President of the Republic.

Responding to reporters, Paulo Cafôfo (PS) said he would only take a position on the motion of censure against the Regional Government, delivered by the CH, after knowing the text. The motion has already been delivered to the president of the Assembly but has not yet been sent to the parties.

The position of the PS leader is similar to that of the IL deputy, Nuno Morna, who is waiting to see what has been written before deciding on an outcome.

Mónica Freitas, from the PAN, recognises that the parliament was “taken by surprise” by the motion of censure and is waiting for it to reach the parties. However, she does not fail to state that, with regard to the CH, “seeing is believing.”
