Woman arrested after attacking mother with a knife

A woman, around 40 years old, was arrested yesterday afternoon by the Public Security Police (PSP), after attacking her own mother with a sharp weapon, in an incident that occurred in the Viveiros region, in one of the housing complexes there.

The causes of the attacks are unknown, but this will not be the first time that the daughter has threatened and caused problems that have harmed her mother’s physical integrity.

Eyewitnesses indicated to JM that the perpetrator of the attacks had links to drug addiction. A witness at the scene reported that a major tragedy almost occurred, had it not been for the intervention of neighbors and the authorities themselves.

According to information gathered from the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters (BVM), a pre-hospital care team was called to the scene and provided care to the victim, a woman aged around 60, who had several serious injuries to her back, hands and neck.

The victim was stabilized at the scene and rushed to hospital, where she is in serious condition.

The daughter, responsible for the attacks, was arrested by the PSP.
